5-10-23   THOUGHTS  

The picture below of children being beckoned from every direction with no response ought to sober us!  The “DEATH-BURIAL & RESURRECTION” of God’s Son calls to us in POWERFUL tones!  The fact of Jesus,  demands an appropriate response!  Are we like these children who just sit and watch?   Verse 19 comes along and says “Wisdom is proved right by her actions”.    Matthew Broadus says  “Those who reject Christianity are without excuse; for it sings joyous strains and mournful strains, presents a bright side to win and a dark side to warn, calls to repentance and welcomes to faith, offers heaven and threatens hell — and they find fault still.”   John 12:32     "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."
 
Matt 11:16-30     "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children, 17  and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ 18  "For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ 19  "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."  20  Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent.  21  "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22  "Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.                                         Skip
28  "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29  "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.  30  "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

My Prayer:
Lord God of heaven, give us ears to hear and eyes that see.  Awaken us to a greater zeal in our lives and a fuller, richer knowledge of You and Your awesome offer to save us.  Help us to see Your design and intention for Christ’s blood bought Church.  May we experience more fully the love of fellowship and the encouragement of brothers and sisters on their way to heaven.  Teach us to pray together with power, O God.  Make our hearts full and pure to sing the joyful song of redemption in Christ, Jesus.  Draw us to You.   Turn our smallness into greatness for Jesus' sake.    In His name,      Amen.
